Eva van Tongeren (Amersfoort, 1990) is a visual artist working mainly in film and video.
She is a graduate of LUCA School of Arts Brussels, was part of the curatorial team of Courtisane and, for several years, handled film distribution for Argos.
Her artistic practice weaves social and anthropological interests into personal stories with universal resonance. While her cinematic works vary widely in form, they are united by a shared concern with care. Her films and installations have been shown at IFFR, Videonale, Ann Arbor Film Festival, EMAF, Oberhausen, Courtisane, Kunsthalle Osnabrück, and Images Festival Toronto, among others.
Eva has run Visite Festival since 2016 — a collage of experimental documentary and political cinema.
As a curator, she is drawn to body politics, feminist perspectives, gender issues, pleasure, sex, violence, transgression, and activism.
